Giles Head Start Playground Repairs

Buchinsky Family

The Narrows, Pearisburg, and Christiansburg Head Start playgrounds were repaired as an Eagle Scout project by Charlie Buchinsky, with the help of JWB contracting and materials donated by Giles Farm Bureau Cooperative.

The children were not able to play on the climbers due to general wear since last year and staff was considering removing them.  Jeff Buchinsky, the NRCA contractor for our new Pulaski Head Start Center, heard of the problem and connected staff with his son, Charlie.

Repairing the climbers was an extensive project and required much planning. The volunteers dug up the old equipment, matched the new posts to the old, drilled holes and attached new posts, then reinstalled the climber back into the ground. Charlie and volunteers also treated the posts in the ground to keep them from rotting in the future.

We cannot express our gratitude enough to Charlie, JWB, and Giles Farm Bureau!
