Winter Overnight Shelter for Homeless Adults

The mission of To Our House is to provide winter shelter for homeless adults in the New River Valley and connect them with resources that lead to employment, housing, and personal economic sustainability.

To Our House operates during the winter months, November through March.  

Our 17th housing season begins November 7, 2026.

To Our House (TOH) is a program of New River Community Acton (NRCA). TOH is a low-barrier shelter, screening for behavior only, providing 14 beds to homeless individual adults and all-adult households (guests) during the winter months (November-March). TOH partners with faith-based and community organizations to provide shelter, food, and compassionate support. Volunteers serve dinner and offer fellowship at a host facility. Evening activities have included haircuts and health checks. Breakfast and bag lunches are available in the morning. TOH staff offer case management to help guests move toward self-sufficiency and housing stability.
