11th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser

We hope to see you Sunday, April 8, from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM at the Floyd County High School for the 2018 Empty Bowls Luncheon and Silent Auction!

This event is the primary fundraiser for the New River Community Action’s Backpack Program which provides children, PreK through 12 who are at risk of going hungry, with food items for the weekends.  Floyd Backpack Program sends child-friendly food items home every week for children in lower-income families in Floyd County schools and Head Start.   The program serves 270 children – totaling over 10,000 food packages in the school year!

Potters from Floyd County and the Blue Ridge Potter’s Guild out of Roanoke have generously donated bowls for this fundraising event. Choosing a handmade bowl to keep is one of the highlights of the luncheon.

A variety of homemade soups will be available as well as fresh homemade bread, beverages, and cookies. All items are donated and all proceeds are used to fight childhood hunger in Floyd County.

Music will be provided by two local bands.  First to perform is the “Earl White String Band” featuring Earl White on fiddle & Adrienne Davis on guitar. Students from Scott Perry’s guitar studio will perform from 1:00-2:00. Hannah Altizer, Alena Bond, Taylor Poff, and Rachel & Hannah Hylton will entertain diners with a mix of blues, rock, country, jazz & p0p tunes.

Come fill a bowl and help fill a need!

Come and join us for a fun community gathering!  Check out the Silent Auction!  Adult tickets are $15.00 in advance, $18.00 at the door, children’s tickets for ages 6-12 are $5.00 and under 5 are free.  Tickets are available at NRCA’s Office at 120 Epperly Mill Road, SW, Floyd; Floyd Center for the Arts (formerly the Jacksonville Center); Bell Gallery; the Floyd County Visitor Center/Chamber of Commerce and the Red Rooster Coffee Roaster (next to the Floyd Post Office).
