New River Community Action, with the assistance of 1,795 volunteers who worked 34,650 hours, provided services to 11,977 unduplicated individuals in 2016-2017.

  • New River Community Action works with numerous citizen groups to develop and implement agency programs.
  • Volunteers who serve on the agency Board of Directors as well as various program Advisory Councils work in partnership with the staff.
  • Volunteer opportunities are available for direct service to NRCA programs and their participants. There are internship opportunities for students.

    • Spread/rake/fluff mulch on playgrounds

    • Clean playground equipment, pick up trash and sticks
    • Keep gardens free of weeds/trash
    • Sand/repair shelves in classrooms
    • Repair playground equipment
    • Sanding classroom furniture and refinishing
    • Paint offices/classrooms/bathrooms
