NRCA’s AmeriCorps program makes an impact on the New River Valley in several ways each year.

The New River Valley (NRV) includes the counties of Giles, Floyd, Montgomery, Pulaski and Radford City. The same mountains that give the NRV its beauty also serve to isolate low-to moderate income people and make service delivery very difficult. The NRCA AmeriCorps program helps address this challenge by placing AmeriCorps members in a variety of NRCA programs and locations.

NRCA AmeriCorps members provided 12,175 hours of service during program year 2015-2016!

Members participate in monthly service projects in addition to their regular activities at NRCA sites. Food drives, packaging meals to be shipped overseas, and cleaning out the NRCA Pulaski Baby Store are just a few of the projects members plan and oversee. During March, members hosted a pancake breakfast to raise funds for NRCA’s Emergency Assistance Program.
