Due to COVID, screening has been suspended until further notice.

The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry (BIFP) serves residents of Blacksburg and McCoy. You must be screened by New River Community Action before you can receive any food assistance.

Where to go for screening

You may visit the New River Community Action office on 400 West Main Street, Christiansburg, VA between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This is on a first-come, first-serve basis. No appointments can be made. The office phone number is 382-6186.

You may visit the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry at 706 Harding Avenue either Mondays between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm or Wednesdays between 10:30 am and 11:30 am.

What information do I need to take?

  1. Verification of current address (such as a utility bill)
  2. Social security numbers of everyone in your household
  3. Proof of wages for everyone in your household (most recent income tax return or current paystubs)

What happens next?

Once you have been screened and qualified, New River Community Action will provide you with a certification sheet. You must bring the certification sheet to the Interfaith Food Pantry to be served.

How often can I receive food?

Qualified clients can visit the food pantry once a month. If you do not come in a particular month, you may NOT carry over your visit to another month.
